this is the official translation of the oregon state motto. nope, i didn’t know that either. but as i was grappling with the theme for the recent willamette writers filmlab script-to-film contest, i came across the oregon motto. the contest “theme” was kind of ramble-y, “a northwest flavor to the wild wild west…” i mean, question mark? it seemed like they were being super-specific, in a vastly-vague kind of a way. i finally broke down and did some research on this fine state that i’ve been living in.
